It is a bit humorous that I used dikes well into my twenties before learning that 'dikes' is an abbreviation for 'diagonal' cutters. Definitions of words change, but one thing that remains the same is the desire for quality tools.

I tend to use tools until the tools break or are simply no longer capable of performing the intended job. Unfortunately, I also tend to grow accustomed to the tool's deteriorating tolerances, a habit that I need to break. On my mind at the moment is a recent rebuild of a computer that needed the use of cutters for plastic wire ties and a few small 12 volt power wires. I cut one wire tie with an old Klein® cutter, which required a bit of physical effort and left a ragged cut edge. I then used the Tronex® 7223 cutters for the other wire ties; the cutting was almost effortless, the 'snap' was nicely crisp, and the wire ties' edges were finished straight. Using the Tronex cutters for trimming power wires, the cuts were similarly smooth, easy, and with clean edges. Aside from my being smilingly pleased with the Tronex cutters, I was also displeased with myself for having used older cutters well beyond their useful life. The moral of the story is that I need to stop being so cheap; life is much better with new quality tools.

As I mentioned in the other articles about Tronex, the tools are made of a high quality alloy that to me is felt to be of an industrial quality that is suitable for all fields of electronics. Whether the job is for PCBs, computer wiring, or networking, Tronex has become my first choice.

Please visit Tronex for more information and a full list of their tools.
